Alpha® Ultracut ABM Series — Vacuum-Brazed Diamond Cut-Off Blade for Pneumatic Tools
The Alpha® Ultracut ABM Series is a vacuum-brazed diamond cut-off blade engineered for pneumatic cut-off tools widely used in automotive body shops and general industrial manufacturing. Unlike standard abrasive cut-off wheels, the Ultracut ABM keeps a constant diameter throughout its service life, so you maintain full cutting depth from the first cut to the last. Its bi-directional rotation lets you run reversible cut-off tools and direct sparks and debris away from the operator. Available in 3" (ABM0338) and 4" (ABM0438) sizes with a 3/8" (10mm) arbor.

- Mount the blade on a pneumatic cut-off tool with a 3/8" (10mm) arbor; never use on an angle grinder.
- Verify your tool's no-load RPM is at or below the blade's maximum rated RPM (20,000 for 3", 18,000 for 4").
- Always wear ANSI-rated safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection.
- Allow the blade to reach full speed before contacting the workpiece.
- Use light, consistent feed pressure — let the diamond grit do the cutting.
- For dust suppression and longer blade life, apply water if your tool and workpiece allow.
- On reversible pneumatic tools, you may reverse the direction of rotation to extend useful life by exposing fresh diamond.
- Inspect the blade before every use; replace immediately if the steel core is bent, cracked or out of round.

How long does the Ultracut ABM last compared to a standard abrasive cut-off wheel?
Alpha publishes that the Ultracut ABM may last up to 50 to 60 times longer than a standard abrasive cut-off wheel, with a conservative estimate of 30 to 40 times longer.
Can I use water with the Ultracut ABM?
Yes. Running with water reduces dust and improves both performance and blade life when the tool and application allow it.
Can I cut glass with the Ultracut ABM?
For demolition-grade glass cutting, yes. For precision glass cutting, Alpha recommends the Vetro blade instead.
Can I mount the ABM on an angle grinder?
No. Angle grinders use a 20mm or 7/8" arbor; the ABM has a 3/8" (10mm) arbor for pneumatic cut-off tools only.
Does bi-directional rotation double the blade's life?
No. Flipping the rotation exposes fresh diamond and extends usable life, but it does not strictly double the blade's total durability.
Can the Ultracut ABM be used for flush cutting?
No. For flush cutting applications, Alpha offers the Ultracut APR Series with the Quad Drive Adapter.
