Description
Alpha® Silencer III Bridge Saw Blade for Quartzite
The Alpha® Silencer III for Quartzite is a premium bridge saw blade engineered specifically for the hardest natural stones — quartzite and Class 5 granites — which demand specialized diamond grits and matrix composition. Its uniquely laminated core (two hardened steel sheets with a thin copper sheet between them) absorbs sound waves rather than reflecting them, dramatically reducing operating noise while delivering fast, chip-free cuts. With 15mm segments, the blade is miter-cut capable. Available in 14", 16" and 18" diameters with 60mm arbor and 50mm adapter, plus free re-tipping service for the life of the blade.

- Confirm spindle size and mount the blade on a 60mm arbor (use the included 50mm adapter if required).
- Install the blade so that the indicator arrows point in the same direction the spindle turns.
- Verify saw RPM does not exceed the blade rating (14" — 4,365 max; 16" — 3,820 max; 18" — 3,395 max).
- Target peripheral speed of 82-92 ft/s (25-28 m/s). On a single-speed bridge saw (e.g., 1,750 RPM), choose a smaller diameter to reduce peripheral speed without changing RPM.
- Use traverse rates up to 1 m/min on 2 cm material, or 0.7 m/min on 3 cm material. Reduce traverse speed by 50% for miter cuts.
- Run wet at all times — supply continuous water to both sides of the blade.
- This blade is not recommended for sintered slabs (Dekton, Lapitec, Neolith). Use the Silencer III for Dekton or for Porcelain instead.
- When segments wear down, return the blade to Alpha® for free re-tipping service.

What materials does this blade cut?
Quartzite and Class 5 (very hard) granites. Softer materials can be cut with faster speeds and clean edges, but blade life will be shorter.
Can I cut sintered slabs like Dekton, Lapitec or Neolith?
No — the mineral composition is different. Use the Silencer III for Dekton or Silencer III for Porcelain instead.
My bridge saw runs at a single 1,750 RPM. How do I get the right peripheral speed?
Select a smaller blade diameter. For example, choose 14" instead of 16" — this reduces peripheral speed without changing spindle RPM.
Why are the segments 15mm rather than 20mm or taller?
Taller segments increase peripheral runout, raising segment-loss risk during miter cuts. The 15mm design balances safety with miter-cut capability.
What are the recommended cutting parameters?
Peripheral speed: 82-92 ft/s (25-28 m/s). Traverse: up to 1 m/min on 2 cm material; 0.7 m/min on 3 cm material. Reduce traverse by 50% for miter cuts.
Can the Silencer III be used dry?
No. Wet cutting diamond blades must be used with continuous water to prevent excessive heat buildup.
What is the maximum operating RPM?
14" — 4,365 RPM. 16" — 3,820 RPM. 18" — 3,395 RPM. Never exceed the blade rating.
Does Alpha re-tip worn blades?
Yes — Alpha® offers free re-tipping service for the life of the blade at its New Jersey facility, provided the core remains undamaged.
