Alpha® SFAT Snail Lock Adapter — Hook & Loop Backed (5" & 6")
The Alpha® SFAT Snail Lock Adapter is a hook-and-loop backed aluminum adapter that converts any 5/8"-11 threaded edge-polishing machine into a quick-change platform for Alpha snail-lock pads. The adapter accepts the Twincur GEM, Twincur EB, Twincur Final Polish, PVA QC discs, Antique Brush Wheels and any other Alpha pad fitted with an SFAT snail-lock back. The hook-and-loop face also lets you mount standard 5" or 6" resin-bond polishing pads directly — no wrenches required. Pads engage with a simple twist and release with a reverse twist, so grit changes take seconds.

- Thread the SFAT adapter onto a 5/8"-11 edge-polishing machine, variable-speed grinder or hand polisher.
- For snail-lock pads: align the pad's snail-lock pattern with the adapter and twist clockwise until it locks.
- For hook & loop pads: press the 5" or 6" hook-and-loop pad straight onto the adapter face.
- Run the tool within the pad's rated maximum RPM (typically 2,000–4,000 RPM for Alpha polishing pads).
- Keep water flowing for wet polishing pads (Twincur GEM, EB, Final Polish); run dry for PVA QC pads.
- To remove a snail-lock pad, twist counter-clockwise; to remove a hook-and-loop pad, peel straight off.
- Inspect the hook-and-loop face periodically and clean off swarf to maintain grip.

What is the difference between the 5" and 6" adapters?
EGV5SNL is a 5" adapter sized for 5" Alpha polishing pads (Twincur GEM 5", Twincur EB, etc.). EGV6SNL is the 6" version for 6" pads. Both share the same 5/8"-11 thread and accept SFAT snail-lock and hook-and-loop pads.
Can I use standard 5" or 6" Velcro pads on this adapter?
Yes. The face is hook-and-loop, so any standard 5" or 6" Velcro-backed resin polishing pad mounts directly — no snail lock needed.
Which thread does it fit?
5/8"-11, the standard for edge polishers, angle grinders and stone polishing tools in North America.
Do I need a wrench to change pads?
No. Snail-lock pads twist on and off by hand. Hook-and-loop pads press straight on and peel off.
What's the maximum safe RPM?
The adapter itself is rated above any Alpha polishing pad's service speed; always run at or below the RPM listed for the pad you have mounted (typically 2,000–4,000 RPM).
Can I use this with wet polishing?
Yes. The aluminum body and hook-and-loop face are designed for wet polishing with Twincur GEM, EB and Final Polish wheels. Dry-only pads such as PVA QC are also compatible.
